This program has been launched to inculcate the love for reading at the same time to foster a spirit of exploration amongst children. Under this program, the school in collaboration with a leading English daily, provides a subsidized subscription of the student edition to its students. This tie-up also leads to the organizing of workshops and competitions throughout the tenure of the subscription.
Outdoor Sports curriculum is an integral part of Delhi Public School Patiala. We at DPS believe that students should build on and embed the physical development and related skills to become more competent, confident and expert in their sporting techniques, and also be able apply the techniques across different sports and physical activities. The children are taught to analyze and understand what makes a performance effective.
Swimming is a discipline that imparts mental and physical prowess to a student’s mind and body, hand-in-hand with the fun associated with it. Keeping this in mind, a half-Olympic sized swimming pool is available for the students along with a Ball & Splash pool for the junior students.
The intent of the pool facility is to teach the students to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 meters, to be able to use a range of strokes effectively and at the same time to imbibe the skills to perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations. All students get to use the pool twice a week, under the watchful eyes of their swimming coach.
The pool facility is equipped with a filtration unit keeping in mind the importance of the pool hygiene. Separate changing and shower facilities are available for boys and girls.
Students, starting from preparatory section are imparted computer education to make them tech savvy. The computer lab is equipped with the latest computers armed with the best softwares. The curriculum is planned and delivered in a way that students get the maximum hands-on practical exposure to the subject.
DPS Patiala is spread over 8 acres in Village Reeth Kheri, Patiala. Set in a lush green environ, the campus presents a very peaceful ambience. The landscaped green lawns welcome one at the very entrance of the campus. The building architecture is in sync with the modern times, with well ventilated, lit, airy classrooms and laboratories. A spacious playground offers outdoor games.
The airy and spacious classrooms are equipped with interactive smart-boards bringing in technology to make the teaching-learning interesting, effective and most of all - enjoyable. Theoretical concepts are brought to life, thus enhancing the learning capabilities of our students.
The dedicated laboratory block, linked to the main block, has been the latest addition into the modern infrastructural facilities of the school. Functional in the Academic Session 2017-18, the block houses the fully-furnished Physics Laboratory, Chemistry Laboratory and the Biology Laboratory, which cater to the higher secondary classes.
The laboratory block also has a fully furnished library and a reading room. An indoor sports room furnished with the chess, carom-boards along with table-tennis facility, is also a part of this block.
