Summer Camps

“Summer Camp is a great opportunity to explore new things or dive deep into areas one loves". DPS Patiala follows this dictum by offering a wide gamut of sports and games to suit children of all ages during its Annual Summer Camp that is scheduled every Summer. In addition to Sports offered for achieving physical fitness, team spirit, discipline and mental agility, many other activities like photography, Abacus & Vedic Mathematics, Cookery, Calligraphy are also popular. Children are also enthusiastic about the Dance and Personality development Workshops. The most sought after and happening place is the school’s pool. A delightful addition to the school infrastructure is the Toddler Pool. The “coos and giggles” of our kindergarteners as they splish and splash about in the pool is most comforting and delightful.

Exploring the World Beyond the Premises

To take teaching/learning beyond the classrooms the school organizes outings and excursions for children of all classes right from kindergarten. While the kindergarteners have frequent picnics and sight-seeing visits, the primary section adheres to one-day educational trips, which of course are coupled with fun too. The students of Class 4 onwards have the privilege of participating in a 4-Day Annual Adventure Camp, which is a much-awaited annual. event  The objective of these trips and outings are to club education with adventure allowing the children to explore, learn and develop their individual style of expression and appreciate the beauty of nature.

The academic curriculum is strongly supported by co-curricular activities. All students are required to opt for a performance based work experience from a wide range of creative activities available to all the students from Kindergarten to Std. XII. For classes I and above, Saturdays are reserved for activities and competitions, Team building is promoted by organising team and group activities. Activity Calendar is planned so as to provide innumerable opportunities to students to groom their overall personalities. A separate activity schedule for pre-primary, primary and senior classes are planned and implemented for each session.

The multifaceted Summer Camp is an annual affair in the summer vacation in which the school incorporates different activities including Sports, Swimming, Fine Arts, Dance Forms, Vocal & Instrumental Music, Personality Enhancement , Theatre, Cooking and Baking , to mention a few.

Winter carnival is to be organized every year on the Christmas Eve for fun and frolic. This colourful annual fiesta is a grand event and witnesses a multitude of people from all walks of life.

House System

The House system is an integral and vibrant part of the DPS-Patiala culture. The House system is designed to reflect and enhance the spirit of competition and sportsmanship. The House system aims to give students an identity and sense of pride in a supportive, secure environment. At the same time this system provides an ambience for positive competition and a closer rapport between students and teachers. All the students from class I upwards are divided into 4 houses which form the 4 cornerstones of the school. The houses are named after prominent rivers of India namely: Sutlej (Blue), Beas (Red), Chenab (Green) and Ravi (Yellow).


Each house is led by a girl house captain and a boy house captain. Every house is also allocated a teacher designated as the house warden. Marks are awarded to the houses throughout the year for extracurricular activities through Inter-House competitions in sports, dramatics, debates, quiz, art and music. At the end of the year, the house bagging the highest score is awarded the championship trophy.

Sports Amenities at DPS Patiala

The Sports Arena

Sport is an integral part of School life at Delhi Public School. We at DPS are passionate about building a strong sense of character and our sporting activities enable all children to develop the skills of risk-taking, decision making under pressure, resilience, communicating with others and team-working. The vast play-scape, the pride of the campus, supports these objectives.

Sports such as Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Throw ball, Archery, Martial Art, Athletics, Lawn Tennis, Skating and Swimming are all the options offered to the students. In our endeavour to polish students in their choice of sport, we offer expert trainers to help children master key skills. As a latest development, infrastructural additions have been done for students interested in combat games.

Swimming Pool Facility

Swimming is a discipline that imparts mental and physical prowess to a student’s mind and body, hand-in-hand with the fun associated with it. Keeping this in mind, a half-Olympic sized swimming pool is available for the students with a splash pool for the junior students. Pool hygiene is a priority at all times and full-time coaches for girls and boys ensure systematic and disciplined learning. Separate changing and shower facilities are available for boys and girls.   

Athletics

Students at DPS Patiala have the best of the training when it comes to Athletics. A 200mtr track is demarcated for running. Promising students receive a focused training in discus throw, shot put and jumps too.  An exclusive throw sector has been carved out for the same.

Skating

Skating is amongst the most popular outdoor activity that most students opt for, specially the juniors. Skating is encouraged as it works on almost every major muscle group in the body. Not only that, children today need all the help they can get to stay in shape and live a healthy lifestyle. The skating rink is vast and spacious catering to big groups of students learning the finer nuances of this sport. Skating lessons are delivered by a well-experienced coach. Our students have always brought laurels to the school at the various inter-school tournaments and Punjab State Games.

Cricket

Cricket is undeniably the supreme sport in the eyes of Indians and understandably, the cricket lovers of DPS Patiala are passionate about the sport. A well-developed pitch and additionally practice nets are available for the cricket enthusiasts. Our U-17 and U-14 teams represent us in all major tournaments of the region.   

Football – A football field is used for practice with the dedicated professional coach, during the zero hour. The U-14 and U-17 teams of the school participate at the district and every year, selected students have been in the Punjab State teams as well.   

 

 

Basketball

Being one amongst the most popular sport on campus, basketball is played by many students of the school, both boys and girls. To cater to the needs of the basketball lovers, the school has a standard sized Basketball court with cemented flooring. The basket ball coach not only trains the senior students, but also the junior enthusiasts using movable basketball posts.

Volley Ball

Volleyball and Throw ball courts are demarcated for full-fledged practice of the volleyball buffs. Students are taught the technicalities of the game by a professional coach. Students enjoy the volley-ball inter-house matches as a part of their activity calendar.

Badminton

2 dedicated courts are extensively used for the practice and tournaments of this game. For professional guidance and polishing, 2 coaches have been appointed – 1 for boys and 1 for girls. 

Archery

Archery is practiced by the budding archers under the watchful eyes of the coach. The archery field is set with a 50 mtr range for practice.

Lawn Tennis

A 70 feet by 130 feet cemented lawn tennis court with a high fence provides the right setting for the students who have opted for this game. Students enjoy learning this game and its finer technicalities.

Swimming

Taekwondo

A sizable number of students, most of them juniors, are given training in martial art. The expert martial art instructor helps the students  are not only meant to develop students’ physical strength, endurance,  martial arts skills but also their self-defense capabilities. Students represent the school in multiple event in the region and always bag laurels.

Chess

For those who enjoy this game of conquest, conflict and competitive skill, the school has appointed a professional coach, who guides the budding Grand Masters in picking up the intricacies of the game. The school has adequate of chess boards to satisfy the playing instinct of the children

Yoga & Aerobics

Yoga is an integral part of our school curriculum.  The school offers a magnificent, spacious activity room for practicing the “asanas” learnt, although the play-scape of the school is lush and serene for outdoor sessions too. Aerobics sessions are also scheduled alternatively in the A-V Hall to bring about flexibility and agility amongst students.

Session 2020-21

  • Tanvi of 7th class bagged 2 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal in Archery at the  State Level (2019-20). She is the first player to represent DPS Patiala at the State Level in Archery. She went on to participate at the National Level in the same year.
  • Kanan Verma of class VII bagged a Bronze Medal in Karate at the State Level (2019-20)
  • Rajwinder Singh Dhalla of Class X brought laurels to the school by bagging a gold medal in the "Indo-Thai Crossbow Tournament" that was held at the city of Pattaya, Thailand. Rajwinder was a part of the under 19 Indian Shooting Team that took part in the "Indo-Thai Sports Festival". (May 2018)
  • Saksham Goyal of class VIII- Socrates qualified the State Level Chess Tournament and participated in the  National Level Chess Tournament at Silvassa.
  • Angel Garg  of Class 5 bagged a silver medal at the State Level Skating Tournament (U-14) and a Bronze at the National Level in the session 2019-20.    
  • Arshdeep Singh of Class VIII a Gold Medal at the State Level Air Rifle Shooting Tournament organised at Ropar (2018-19). After bagging the state level gold, he then participated in the National Level Tournament.
  
  • Sukhmanjot Kaur of class XI won a consolation prize in the Ambassadors of Hope contest organized by the Punjab State Government.
  • Vinita Bimbra of class V won the 2nd Place in the Ambassadors of Hope contest organized by the Punjab State Government.(District Fatehgarh Sahib)
  • Birapaar of class VIII participated in the online MUN (This online MUN was held on 23rd & 24th May 2020) “The Luminescence” Committee of Citizens and received the Honorable Mention Award.

Cultural and Co-Curricular Competitions

  • Patiala Team Bags an Award at Zonal Inter DPS Dance Fest.

The Classical Dance Team of DPS Patiala participated in the Inter DPS Dance Festival (North Zone-1) that was held at DPS Chandigarh on the 2nd of August 2019.In all 18 teams from north zone (1) participated in the mega event and vied for the top positions. The first 4 teams selected for the Nationals were DPS Chandigarh, DPS Mohali, DPS Patiala and then DPS Jammu.

  • Eight students of DPS Patiala represented the school at the Model United Nations Conference that was organized by DPS Bathinda from the 8th to the 10th of August 2019. Mst.Meet Kamal of class X was declared the "Best Delegate" (UNGA) , while Mst. Keshav Goel of Class X bagged the Honourable Mention Award in the UNHRC Committee.
  • Pranav Gupta (class IV) won the “Champion” award by in the National Abacus Competition organized by Brain-O-Brain”.
  • Ishaan Sharma won the “Special Mention Award” in the UNHRC Committee at the Chimera MUN at Premier Public School Samana

SESSION 2018-19

Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony

Delhi Public School Patiala acknowledged its Pre- primary students by organising a Graduation Ceremony at HarpalTiwana Auditorium for Performing Arts on 26 February 2019.

The tiny tots now step forward from Pre-Primary to class 1. It is their first step towards formal education. Little toddlers were very excited to receive their degrees clad in their black gowns and smart caps. The parents of the students were present to witness the ceremony when their little darlings wore the graduation gowns and caps, and held their scrolls firmly in their hands.

The function was presided over by Dr.Naina Sharma who is an Asstt Professor (Psychology) in Punjabi University. She is also a member of State Drug and Rehabilitation Committee and a Coordinator of Punjab for the STEP (School based Teenage Education Program)

The programme started on an auspicious note by the traditional lightning of lamp by the Chief Guest Dr.Naina Sharma, Principal Mr. S. N. Shukla and Academic Coordinator Ms.ShvetaGoyal.

The kindergarten and class 1 students exhibited their talents by presenting beautiful dances, songs and the stories of Cindrella, Ali Baba, Akbar Birbal, Rani Jhansi etc.to name a few. Students of class 3 anchored the entire event in a very lively and enjoyable way.

The Chief Guest congratulated the students and their parents on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the school. The Principal also addressed the parents and updated them about the school activities and thanked the parents for bestowing their trust on the school.

The exemplary performance and confidence shown by the students is worth mentioning and highly commendable.

ANNUAL SPORTS MEET 2018-19

Kite Flying on Basant Panchmi

To mark the festive occasion,the children brought colourful kites and enjoyed kite flying activity in school premises. Keeping in sync with the tradition of Basant Panchami, all the students brought yellow coloured snacks to share with each other. Beautiful pieces of art related to Basant Panchmi were decorated on the boards. The crestude edge children was reflected when colouring in different colours of kites. Children carried their books with them to attain the blessings of 'Maa Saraswati'. They also learnt about the importance of showing respect to books as they are repositories of wisdom and knowledge.

AU REVOIR 2019

The first batch of XII was given the formal farewell by their juniors on 2nd February 2019. The pool-side venue of the school was colorfully decorated keeping in sync with the event "Au Revoir". The seniors were given a traditional welcome by the students of XI. The event started off with the welcome note by the hosts of the occasion- Mst. Ishaan and Ms.Balsimar Kaur . The "Human Bingo" was then conducted for the students to get into the fun mood. The cultural presentations from students included bhangra on foot-tapping numbers by girls and boys followed by songs by Nickita and Jagman. Class XII students also enjoyed a fashion walk as they walked the red-carpet flaunting their outfits. Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla addressed the students and conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming boards. Ms.Vandana Malhotra also presented a thoughtful poem on the upcoming years of the passing out students. The coveted titles of the day were - Mr. DPS Patiala won by Basavraj Chinagundi and Miss DPS Patiala won by Bhavnoor Kaur. Ankur Singh was the proud winner of the Mr. Charismatic title, while Taqdeer Kaur won the title of Miss Charismatic. Most photogenic boy was Jatin Dawar while the most photogenic title in the girls was bagged by Reet Kahlon. The title winners shared a moment of pride as they cut the ceremonial cake along with the Principal and Academic Coordinator of the school. Students of XII also shared their emotional memories of the bygone years spent at DPS Patiala. Students also penned down their wishes and thoughts on the wall of wishes created for the occasion. All students also joined in to plant a sapling of Golden Ficus to mark their tenure in the school. Post-refreshments, all students enjoyed a happening dance party, spending their last day on the campus with fun and cheer.

Medical Consultation Camp held

Free consultation camp for the students with weight issues was held in DPS Patiala in collaboration with Amar Hospital Patiala by Dr. Pankaj Goyal on Saturday (2nd Feb. 2019). During this camp around 50 out of 75 students from class 1 to 10 who were shortlisted during general health checks had consultation with the doctor. The students were advised and prescribed with the required suggestions and medicines.

 

Robotics Exhibition Held

On 2nd February, a Robotics Exhibition was held with more than 20 projects on display. The young students, using various techniques learnt during their robotics classes, came up with very interesting working displays. Pride and happiness were evident on the faces of the students as they demonstrated their know-how about their self-assembled working models with proper programming. All parents who interacted with the students appreciated the effort and the preparation of the students in putting up the exhibition.

 

Book Fair Held

A book fair was held in the campus of DPS Patiala coinciding with the PTM. The organizers of the fair were the distributors of Rainbow Books. Children, accompanied by their parents could be seen browsing through the book-stands and choosing the books of their choice.

Republic Day Celebrated

Class 8 Aristotle presented the special assembly on the occasion of the Republic Day of the nation. A wonderful enactment portraying the rights of the citizens of India was enacted by the students. A series of patriotic songs were also rendered on the occasion, along with a special presentation by the students of the Dramatic Club. The girls of 8 A also mesmerized all present with a tri-colored choreography. Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla addressed the assembly and conveyed his wishes on the occasion of the 70th Republic Day of the country. He motivated the students to abide by all the regulations expected of a good citizen. Various activities were organized in the classes to mark the National Festival.

LOHRI CELEBRATION

 

The popular winter time Punjabi folk festival LOHRI was celebrated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm at Delhi Public School Patiala.The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of LOHRI. All the students right from Kindergarten were happy and excited to dance on the beats of the Dhol and they enjoyed the traditional snacks around the bonfire.To add fun, the teachers from Kindergarten enacted on the story of " Dhulla Bharti wala" and also performed Gidha.All teachers and students enjoyed the dance with the festive spirit of the occasion. The Bonfire was lit by the Academic co-ordinator Ms.Shweta Goyal. Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla conveyed his festive wishes to all the students and staff members.

Annual Winter Carnival 2018

Delhi Public School Patiala organized its Annual Winter Carnival in its school premises at Reeth Kheri, Sirhind Road, Patiala on 23rd December 2018. The mega event named “DPS Masquerade”, was inaugurated by the cutting of the ceremonial ribbon by Mrs.Sushma Shukla, the first lady of the school. The school grounds pulsated with scintillating music and the live student band of DPS Patiala impressed the lively crowd. The 11 gaming stalls managed by the teachers were consistently thronged by both children and elders alike. Almost 40 shopping stalls gave the best of the shopping experience for everyone.The lip-smacking menu offered by the eatery stalls treated the taste buds of every individual on the campus with eatables ranging from oven-baked delicacies to exotic Mexican cuisines - the carnival had something in store for everyone. A magic show by the magician Wilson kept the kids and the elders hooked to the show. As goes the tradition with all carnivals, the kids on the campus were all thrilled as they took camel rides, bull rides and also enjoyed zorbing. The carnival provided parents as well as grandparents with a lot of fun activities. Talent Hunts, Fashion Walks, Couple Games and Tambola made the entire day busy with exciting prizes, ensuring an unforgettable time. The colourful occasion came to a fantastic end with the announcement of the lucky draw. The zest and zeal exhibited by an enthusiastic crowd of visitors and participants made the Winter Carnival 2018 a truly memorable Sunday. DPS Annual Winter Carnival 2018 saw a massive footfall of over 5000 individuals.

 

Winter Charity Drives

The students of class 4 & 5 participated in collecting and distributing charity material as is the tradition at DPS Patiala before every winter break. The magnanimous contribution of the students was given away to the needy.The construction site workers working at the school were also given winter wear. A group of student volunteers distributed the woollens and footwear at the slum adjoining the village Jhill on the Sirhind Road. The experience was overwhelming for the students.

Kabbadi Tournament Held

The much awaited and final sports event - the inter-house Kabaddi Tournament for the year 2018 was held on the last working day of the school before the Winter Carnival. The first category of boys matches drew a lot of support and excitement from the spectators and the final winners were the boys of the Chenab House with the runner-up team was Ravi House. In the girls category, the winners were the Beas House and the runner-up team was the Sutlej House.

 

DPS Patiala participates in the Mega Career Fair 2018

The DPS Patiala team comprising of 60 students and 5 teachers participated in the Mega Career Fair 2018 organised by the Patiala Sahodaya School Complex. The career fair proved to be useful, specially for the senior students of XI & XII, with various informational talks by various renowned educationists and motivational speakers. 5 students of DPS also managed the career guidance desk of DPS Patiala on the stream - "Designing and Fine Arts" as a career. The stall was decked up with all the relevant information and the speakers did a wonderful job of helping solve the queries of the visitors.

Play night "Razzmatazz"

Delhi Public School organised a play night named “Razzmatazz” on 3rd December 2018 at the Harpal Tiwana Auditorium for Performing Arts. Razzmatazz was the maiden theatrical venture by the students of DPS Patiala. Mrs.NeenaTiwana, the Chairperson of Harpal Tiwana Foundation honoured the function by being its Chief Guest. The evening comprised of 3 full length plays being staged. The first presentation was the Shakespearean Classic “A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream”, followed by a play in Hindi – “Nir Nirupan” highlighting the water crisis. The third play in Punjabi focussed on the Societal Evils which are plaguing our roots in Punjab and was thus aptly titled “Koodah”.Mrs.Neena Tiwana appreciated the students for their splendid performance stating that the performances were synonymous with “Razzmatazz” and appreciated the school management for promoting acting and performing arts. The guest of Honour Mr.Anant Dehadrai gave away the student awards and the rolling trophies for the Best Houses as well. Parents and other dignitaries enjoyed the performances and applauded the efforts of the students. Mr.Ramesh Talwar, PVC, DPS Patiala and Mr. S. N. Shukla, the Principal of DPS Patiala, appreciated the students and teachers for the success of the maiden theatrical venture.

A Day of Learning at Pushpa Gujral Science City

The students of classes IV-IX enjoyed an educational trip to the Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala on 25th November 2018.The first show at the venue was an exciting musical laser show followed by a thrilling ride in the space simulator. The curious students witnessed the various exhibthr showcased, all based on the various phenomenae of science. The visit to the planetarium was undoubtedly the show-stopper. A walk through the dinosaur park was also very informative and interesting. Moving on, the student group went to "Rangla Punjab" for a sumptuous lunch. They also enjoyed the culturally rich stalls depicting the cultural heritage of Punjab. Children had a gala time as they danced to the DJ's foot- tapping numbers.The return journey was full of excited talk and wonderful memories of the day.

Fun games at DPS Kindergarten wing!!!

The much awaited fun games were held on Monday 26 November 2018, with great zeal and excitement. Many fun games were conducted like 'balancing cones' 'Sack race' 'Hurdle race' and 'Ball in the basket'.The children participated with a lot of enthusiasm. It was a day filled with sportsmanship and competition.The event ended with the distribution of certificates to the best performers.

Special Assembly Marks Gurupurab Celebrations

On the eve of the Gurupurab of Shri Guru Nanak ji, a special devotional assembly was presented by the students of class 8 Socrates. The proceedings of the assembly were given an auspicious start with an ardas and the recital of "Mool Mantra". Students apprised everyone with the meaning of each phrase of the Mool Mantra and the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji. Melodious shabads presented on the occasion added to the spiritual ambiance around the campus. Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla conveyed his wishes to the children and their extended families. "Degh Prashad" was piously distributed through the entire school.

 

Mickey & Minnie enjoy their Birthdays with Kindergarteners!!

Kindergarteners had a gala time celebrating the birthday of their favourite cartoon characters Mickey and Minnie on the 19th of November. The teachers made this occasion special for them by giving them a superb surprise. The children were in awe as the Minnie and Mickey entered the assembly ground on a scooter. This was followed by peppy dance numbers where everyone made merry with the music. The celebration was made more colourful with all the kids dressed-up as their favorite cartoon characters.Mickey and Minnie also cut a beautiful birthday cake, much to the delight of the tiny-tots,who were super-excited to give away presents to their beloved heroes.

 

 

Pink day celebration in Kindergarten!

"The good effects of pink kindles friendship, harmony and affection". The pre-primary section of DPS Patiala celebrated the Pink day on November 16th. It was wonderful to see children bloom and blossom in different shades of pink.The tiny tots participated in variety of hands-on activities related to the identification of the different hues of the color Pink. The activities of painting, colouring and making beautiful eye masks reinforced the strengths of teamwork and confidence.

Visit to Gurudwara Moti Bagh

The Kindergarten students visited Moti Bagh Gurudwara prior to the approaching Guru Nanak Jayanti. The students offered their prayers.The authorities of the Gurudwara appreciated the time spent by the teachers and the students in the historical shrine.The children were delighted as they received the Prasad.The visit to the Gurudwara was also to cover the ongoing topics of their syllabus -"Places of worship and Respect". It was a pleasant and enriching experience for the children as they were apprised about the significance of the upcoming Gurupurab.

Winter Fashion Walk

 

A Winter Fashion walk event was organized for the students of various kindergarten schools. In all, 120 students participated in the colorful event that was held at the vast playscape of the school. The little ones, coming from various pre-schools like Kid’s Castle, Bachpan Pre-School, Gad’s Preparatory, Little Pumpkin Farms and Hello Kids had a wonderful time participating in the coloring event and the fashion walk. The results of the fashion walk event were – 1st Position -Mst. Aarav (Hello Kids) and Mst.Nupam (Bachpan Pre-school), – 2nd Position -Ms. Abhiroop (Gad’s Preparatory) and Ms.Bhavika (Gad’s Preparatory), 3rd Position -Mst. Gaveen (Little Pumpkin Farms) and Mst.Vikram Pratap (Little Pumpkin Farms). In the coloring event the winners were - 1st Position –Mst. Saksham (Kid’s Castle) and Mst.Aarush (Bachpan Pre-school), 2nd Position -Ms. Kaashvi (Hello Kids) and Mst.Samardeep (Little Pumpkin Farms), 3rd Position -Mst. Manraj (Gad’s Preparatory) and Ms.Palak (Hello Kids). Principal of the school Mr.Santosh Shukla thanked all the participating school heads for the enthusiastic participation and making the event a huge success.

Children's Day Celebrations

The Children’s Day was celebrated with much pomp and fervor with the “BalMela” being organized in campus of Delhi Public School Patiala. The teachers and staff of the school put in a lot of effort in making the day both special and memorable for every child of the school. A special cultural program was presented by the teachers comprising of choreographies, group dances, a “qawwali”, solo songs and much more.Teachers of class I presented rib-tickling “joker dance”, while teachers of Class II presented a Punjabi Giddha. HRTs of class 3 presented a self-composed Qawwali on children while the HRTs of 4-5 left everyone in awe as they presented a humorous choreography “School Ke Din” dressed in school uniforms. Class teachers of class 6-8 were lauded for their Bhangra on popular Punjabi numbers. The limelight was stolen by the show “BachonkiAdalat” wherein the senior teachers of class 9 & 10 dramatically presented the clashes in the mindsets of children, parents and teachers Eatery stalls were set-up and managed by the non-class teachers with lip-smacking snacks and delicacies that were a big hit with the children. The kindergarteners were thrilled to visit the cotton candy and balloon counter. All 13 stalls were thronged with excited students.The star attraction was the “Tattoo Corner”, where the Art Teachers designed beautiful Tattoos to commemorate the day.At the tail-end of the program, the students were more than happy to dance to foot-tapping numbers with their peer-group and teachers. A picture zone was also set-up by the Fine Arts Department for group pictures of each of the class. Each class was also gifted a cake to mark the occasion. Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla and Academic Coordinator Ms.ShvetaGoyal conveyed their wishes to the children with inspirational messages. The children had a memorable day with the fun activities and the entire schedule left them happy and pampered !!

Pre-Diwali visit to the Helpage Home

Students of class X visited the old age home managed by Helpage India. The visit was intended to convey the festive wishes along with spending quality time with the elderly. Dry ration and other daily consumables were given by the students as a token of love. It was an emotional visit and the students came back with a lot of blessings.

 

Little ones shop @school for Diwali

A small-scale exhibition cum sale of hand crafted candles, table mats, pouches, greeting cards and mopping fabric was held at DPS Patiala. The speciality of the products on display was the fact that each article on display was hand made by differently-abled students of the Deaf & Dumb School Shekhupura. The enthusiasm was at its peak amongst the students as they chose the merchandise of their choice.

Visit to the Deaf & Dumb School

Students of classes 9 visited the Deaf & Dumb School located at Shekhupura. They undertook a tour through the school observing the different skills that were being imparted to the children to empower them. Candle making, mat weaving and braille technology were observed by the students. Our students gave away festive cards with wishes for the upcoming festival. It was an inspiring visit as it exhibited the dedication of the special educators and zeal of the differently abled students.

Inter -House Rangoli Competition

An inter-house Rangoli Competition was organised for the students of classes 6-8 on the 3rd of November, before the commencement of the Diwali Break.Each house made 3 beautiful rangolis in the spaces allocated to it. The activity was a test of creative sense, team spirit and coordination.Within the allocated time, children created marvels out of colors and flowers. The hustle and bustle of the activity added to the excitement of the festival of lights.

Anandotsav 2018

The 6th Annual Day of Delhi Public School Patiala was a grand affair with the cultural presentations of the students spreading over 2 days. There was a 100% participation of students of classes II-VII. On the 15 th of November, the guests of honour for the evening were Mr.Naman Markan, ADC(G), Patiala and Mr. Manjit Singh Narang, MD, PRTC. The colourful performances of the junior students were based on the various flavours of the small screen. The key note address was rendered by the Pro Vice Chairman of the school, Mr.Ramesh Talwar, while the Annual Report of the School giving the insight about the school’s growth and achievements was presented by the Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla. On this occasion, the excellence awards were given away to the outstanding student achievers to the academic session 2017-18. Mr.Naman Markan appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers in the making and presentation of the various thematic performances, and cited that the confidence quotient of the students was evidently visible. The Managing Director of PRTC Mr.Manjit Singh Narang appreciated the entire concept of the show, and congratulated the team DPS for the excellent function. On the 16 th of October, the Chief Guest for the evening was Mr.Ashish Bansal, the Secretary of Legal Service Authority, Patiala. The whole sequence of the evening’s programme was based on the entertaining theme of Bollywood, with each performance bringing-in a specific genre of the movies. Each performance outstood its predecessor, though the finale Bhangra performance was a super-hit with the audience. “Mahabali” by class 7 was magnanimous with the periodic costumes and the accessories adding to the grandeur of the theme. In addition to the excellence and the regularity awards, the coveted swimming championship trophy was presented to the swimming sensations of the school – Amreen and Aafreen by the Chief Guest. Mr.Bansal congratulated the students and the teachers for the grand event. He specially commended the student anchors for their fluency, flow and confidence. The shows on both the days were hosted by the students of class 8. The parents came in large numbers and shared the excitement of the occasion.

Blood Donation Camp at DPS Patiala

Delhi Public School Patiala organized a voluntary Blood Donation Camp to support the Blood Bank, Rajindra Hospital, Patiala , today, the 6th of October 2018. It coincided with the PTM that was scheduled at the end of the first term. Parents made a bee-line for the venue right from the beginning of the camp.S. Manjeet Singh Brar, Superintendent of Police, Patiala, inaugurated the camp and appreciated the efforts of the school.The event was also presided over by Dr.D.S.Bhullar, Senior Professor, Govt. Medical College, Patiala, who boosted the donors. Shri.Sukhvinder Singh (PO, Blood Bank) and team, took personal care of each of the donor and ensured that they were comfortable in every way. The refreshments and appreciation medals for the event were arranged by the Lions Club Premier, Patiala, and the President - Lion Rakesh Goel and Lion Vikram Goel being present to oversee the arrangements.The Vice-Principal of Punjab Jail Training School, Mr. Rakesh Sharma (President Awardee) distributed the certificates to the donors and encouraged the students as well. Mr. Kaka Ram Verma, Social Worker, who played a key role in motivating the school management and the students towards this noble cause, thanked the Principal, staff, students and parents for enthusiastically contributing in this humanitarian initiative. Principal,The student volunteers also help in the smooth conduct of the event.

Gandhi Jayanti Celebrated

Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with elaborate arrangements at Delhi Public School Patiala. The day began with the songs on cleanliness reverberating in the entire school complex. Taking the legacy of "Swachta" to a different level, the students of the Sutlej House presented a thought provoking assembly on the occasion of "Gandhi Jayanti". The assembly comprised of a street play and a dance drama depicting the need for cleanliness and a green environment. The foot-tapping number "Tick-Tick-Tick-Tick" gave a meaningful message along with adding to the spirit of "Swachta Abhyan". The group song "Hum Honge Kameyab" by the junior students was well-received. A cleanliness pledge was also administered by the Boy House Captain of the House. The transport staff was invited to collect small bins to be placed in the school buses. Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla addressed the assembly and motivated the students to envision the beautiful, clean and green India by carrying out their moral responsibility towards the environment. He was presented with a green sapling to commemorate the occasion.

Skating Champ Gurjeet sails into State Level

Mst. Gurjeet Singh of class VIII bagged 3 silver medals at the District Level in the Punjab State School Games. His events were 500 Mts, 1000 Mts and 1500 mts Inline Skating. Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla congratulated the young lad for his fantastic achievements. Gurjeet Singh qualified for the State Level with this feat.

Kindergarten Grandparents Day Celebration 2018

The Grandparents of the Kindergarten Section were brimming with excitement and happiness as they entered the premises for the celebration of the most aviated - Grandparents Day.The entire team of Kindergarten - teachers and students, left no stone unturned to make the event most memorable and nostalgic. The function started with welcoming of the Grandparents followed by a welcome song by the junior school choir. Children were more than happy to present peppy dance numbers and their performances touched the hearts of all present. Grandparents most enthusiastically participated in the fun-games organized by the teachers that brought smiles on the faces of the winners, a proof of their sense of achievement. Open invites were given to the grandparents to participate in the "Singing and Dance competition" and the songs from yesteryears were appreciated by everyone.The wonderful event ended with a happening dance party, with everyone in attendance tapping their feet to the popular dance numbers. Mr.S.N.Shukla, the school Principal, in his address aptly compared the grandparents to a Banyan Tree, and reiterated the fact that the contribution of grandparents in the upbringing of young children was most valuable. The Academic Coordinator of the school Ms.Shveta Goyal expressed her gratitude and thanked each grandparent for having spared the time to make the event a grand success. The grandparents thanked the school authorities for this annual event, which was most looked-forward by all the elderly of the DPS Family.

DPS sportstars shine at the District Level

DPS Patiala students had a memorable day at the District Level (U14) Tournaments of the Punjab State School Games.

Saksham Goyal of class 7 bagged a Gold Medal in Chess and booked his berth for upcoming State Level.

Abhay of class 7 also bagged a Gold Medal thus qualifying for the state level in Badminton.

Ankit Joshi of Class 6 was selected for the state camp in football.

Ram Inder of class 8 bagged a Silver Medal in Basketball.

Kashish Singla of class 7 received a Bronze Medal for her performance in the district level Basketball.

The entire DPS Family is elated by the spectacular results and looks forward for a bigger medals haul in the U17 category.

 

A memorable Teachers Day it was !!

The school Council of DPS Patiala in coordination with the senior students of the school arranged for a colourful bash for their teachers.They could barely contain their excitement as the day began with the special assembly. The cultural program started with a parody dedicated to the teachers. This was followed by a speech on Dr. Radhakrishnan.A beautiful cake was cut to mark the celebration. This was followed by the dedication of songs/poems by the students for each teacher. The entire sequence was enjoyable as the teachers went up the stage to recieve their titles as well.The celebrations concluded with a dance session by teachers and students.Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla thanked the students for organising a colourful event.

 

Celebrating the Birthday of Lord Krishna

Janamashtami was celebrated enthusiastically by the students of Pre-Primary wing at DPS Patiala. The little enthusiasts matched the occasion with the attractive Peacock head-gears. The also decorated earthen pots "matkis" and flutes- all symbolic and related to Lord Krishna.The entire wing was colourfully decorated with craft creations depicting the life of Lord Krishna. Their teachers made occasion a bigger surprise with an enactment that left the children in awe as they saw real life Krishna,Radlif Sudama Yashodha &Meera, right in front of them.A colourful dance followed.A visit to the temple completed the celebration.

Janamashtami celebrated at DPS

The Chenab house held an assembly on 1st September 2018, themed on the festival of Janamashtami. The stage was all set in vibrant colors with flutes, peacock plumes, the traditional ’Krishna –Jhula’, ,flower garlands and scores of decorated ‘matkis’. Students of classes 2-10 participated in it .

The assembly had an auspicious start with the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra and Principal Sir paying obeisance to baby Krishna in the cradle. Next, the little ones from classes2,3 and 4 narrated and dramatized the early life of Shree Krishna. This continued into a dance “Maakhan chor” performed by students of classes 4 and 5. A play depicting the lesser known episode of how Lord Krishna broke the ego of Satyabhama, was enacted by the students of classes 8and 9.It was very keenly viewed by the students and teachers alike. The next item was the foot-tapping and colorful “Raas-Leela” (by the students of classes 7 and 8) that was extended to the popular song –Govinda Ala Re Ala , by all the other students of the house. This festive gaiety was further enhanced by the traditional Dahi- Handi when the entire school got excited , cheered , enjoyed and the thrilling human pyramid. Prasadam and a token book-mark was also distributed on this occasion.

 

 

The Swimming Sensations of DPS Patiala

Amreen and Aafreen of class V at Delhi Public School Patiala went on a winning spree at the District Level Swimming Events on the 22nd of August in Patiala. In the 50 Mtr Butterfly event, Amreen bagged the the first place while sister Aafreen settled for the silver. Turning tables, Aafreen bagged a gold in the 50 Mtr Free Style, while Amreen got a silver. Amreen snatched a Silver Medal in the 50 Mtr Breaststroke event. In the next event, Afreen grabbed a Gold in the 50 Mtr Backstroke while Amreen settled for a silver this time. In the 200 mtr Individual Medley, it was Amreen's magic once again that bagged her a Gold, while Aafreen clinched the silver in the event. The icing on the cake was with the declaration of Amreen being the fastest swimmer in the U-14 Girls by the district officials.A breathtaking trophy was received by Amreen for the same. The array of achievements of these sisters has put the entire school in a Jubilant Mood. The Swimming Sensations were congratulated and blessed by the teachers and the ecstatic Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla.

DPS Patiala achievers !

Meet Kamal of Class IX bagged the "Best Delegate"Award in the MUN organized by DPS Bathinda from the 17th of August to the 19th of August 2018. He was the delegate of Maldives. Ishaan Sharma bagged the "High Commendation"Award in the MUN organized by DPS Bathinda from the 17th of August to the 19th of August 2018. He was the delegate of Belgium.

Lavanya bagged the consolation prize in the Inter School Rhyme Recitation Competition held at Our Lady of Fatima Convent.She recited an emotional poem - "Words of an unborn angel".

Rishima stood 2nd in the Art Competition held at Premier Public School, Samana. The event was organized by the CBSE Patiala Sahodaya School Complex.

The Principal of the school, Mr.S.N.Shukla appreciated the achievers and encouraged all the students to give their best in all the activities and competitions that were offered to them.

The Teej Assembly - A Cultural Feast !!

The Beas House presented a colourful assembly for the popular festival of Punjab"Teej". The assembly began with the welcoming of the Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla with the beats of the "Dhol". The stage was aptly set to the layout of a "Teej" Fair, Young girls and boys were decked up in their festive attires and they joined their seniors in presenting a cultural treat. The assembly started with a energetic "Bhangra". This was followed by the students - Saksham, Archita and Ustatleen Kaur rendering poems and sharing the significance of the festival.. A cryptic,thought-provoking quiz in Punjabi was conducted by Kanwalpreet Singh and Aashmeen Kaur of Class IX. This was followed by the traditional "Giddha" where the girls of the house were joined in by the house teachers too!! The "Sandhara" was also distributed to all the teachers to make the occasion all the more memorable. As a surprise, "Mal-puas and Kheer" the traditional delicacies of the festival were also distributed.Mr.S.N.Shukla appreciated the wonderful presentation and shared the importance of heritage and festivities in today's fast lives.

 

Independence Day Celebration in Kindergarten Wing..

Independence The Kindergarten wing of DPS Patiala saluted and celebrated the nation's Independence day with great respect and enthusiasm on its 72nd Independence Day.The school was decked up with Tricolours balloons and kites.The junior section had a Tri color activity to mark the occasion.The spirit of freedom was spread all over with the splash of the colours. The little ones enjoyed the Tricolour vegetable printing and Tricolour wind- chime making with the help of their HRTs .The enthusiasm was easily seen on the faces as they sang the patriotic song 'Ae watan mere watan Aabaad rhe tu

Independence Day

The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated with much fervor and patriotic spirits at Delhi Public School Patiala. In the first of the House Assemblies of this session, Ravi House presented an array of energy packed performances. The journey from pre to post independent India was depicted through a spectacular choreography. The group patriotic songs rendered by the classes were truly spirited and charged the atmosphere further. The junior students were adored for their attractive outfits as they participated in the oratory event "Legends of India"Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla appreciated the performances and also conveyed his Independence Day wishes to all the students.Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held on the 15th of August in the school premises. Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla hoisted the tricolor with the staff rendering the National Anthem and the ceremonial salute. The teachers sang patriotic songs and also shared their views on the current scenario of the country. They pledged to work with all sincerity towards making excellent citizens of tomorrow. A plantation was also carried out to commemorate the occasion.

Visit to the Sewage Water Treatment Plant

The students of Class 7 of Delhi Public School Patiala along with the Science Club students visited the Sewage Plant located near the Sular Road, Patiala.It was an educational visit to observe and study the working of the plant, where the treatment is conducted in three stages. In the first stage, they learnt that a tank was used to collect the sewage water coming in for treatment. In the second unit, the waste and garbage was filtered through this water. After this the slurry was also segregated which was redirected to be used as manure.The remaining water is further drained and then chlorinated, thus getting purified substantially. Students were amazed to see clean water after the entire treatment procedure.They were told that this water would be used for irrigating fields and other such useful activities shortly. Students were impressed with the working of the plant and returned enriched with the entire technology of a working sewage treatment plant.

"Be my buddy!"- Celebrating Friendship

The Kindergarten wing of DPS Patiala celebrated Friendship day on Friday,the 3rd of August 2018. A beautiful campaign aptly named- 'Print your hand and be my buddy' was carried out with much color and fanfare. A Friendship Tree put-up for the occasion was inundated with the colorful and loving hand-prints of the young friends of the KG classes as well as of their HRT's. The campaign saw active participation of the Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla and Academic coordinator Ms.Shveta Goyal. The day concluded with the students hugging their friends, sharing chocolates and presenting each other with a friendship heart as a token of love. The day was spent in good spirits and a lot of cheer.

The Young Advertisers of DPS Patiala

An advertisement enactment activity was organized for the students of Kindergarten section. Various students participated in this event and show-cased their talent through innovative advertisements. The products orginated from various arenas like Fashion, Toiletries, Clean India,Food and Mobile phones.Colourful outfits with creative props added quality to the innovative event. The idea behind conducting this competition was to provide a platform to the young participants to explore their creativity and enhance their stage presence.Each performance was special and the advertisements were truly impressive.

Kindergarteners venture to Dominos

DPS Patiala organized hands-on learning session for the kindergartners at Dominos Pizza Outlet located at Urban Estate, Phase I, on 27th July,2018.The children were very super-excited and had their spirits high throughout the bus journey from the school to the eatery outlet. On entering the premises,the students were guided to the kitchen to understand the process of production, how the quality control was maintained and also on how the inventory was tackled. The joy of the studnets knew no bound when they got a chance to make their own pan pizza and garlic bread. The visit to Dominos was undoubtedly a fun-filled learning experience.

Anti-Drugs Rally Organised

The staff and students of Delhi Public School Patiala, led by the school Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla, enthusiastically participated in an anti-drug rally in the school premises.The rally was organized as a part of the anti-drugs campaign of the Punjab Police. The students in attendance were addressed by S.Kesar Singh, Superintendent of Police, Patiala City. He was also accompanied by Mr.Harry Boparai, SHO, Police Station (Anaj Mandi).The Superintendent of Police motivated children to stay healthy and active in their lives, also, to keep away from the negatives of life. The students enjoyed the interactive session with the senior officer as he narrated several inspirational anecdotes from his rich experience. He encouraged teachers to give equal attention and efforts in making all the students worthy citizens of tomorrow.Students raised slogans against the menace of drug abuse and also pledged to help the affected individuals to come out of this life-threatening habit.

Summer Fun with a Tangy Party!

 

Kindergarten kids enjoyed a Summer Party to beat the heat in this sun-scorched summer.The HRTs of the KG classes taught the kids to prepare the tangy drink using the popular tang concentrate. The excited kids added ice and water into their glasses. The activity was meant to give the students a hands-on experience.Students were encouraged to make the summer drink for their parents and grandparents too .The party food and an animated movie added to the party mood of the tiny-tots

World Emoji Day

The students of Kindergarten and classes I-III celebrated the "World Emoji Day" on the 17th of July. An array of activities was planned for this day by the teachers. While the kindergartners picked the emotion of their choice from the spectacular emojis made by their teachers, and spoke lines on the mood depicted by their emoji, the students of classes I-III enjoyed the oratory activity with their hand-made emojis.They expressed an emotion through a few lines on what they experienced after they rejoined the school post-summer vacation. The lines were a treat to the listeners as the expressions varied from happiness, excitement to sadness and confusion.This activity was a part of the series of oratory activities to encourage spoken English among the students.

Kindergarten paints the campus GREEN !

Our little champs celebrated Green day on 13th July and participated in a energy-packed cleanliness rally.The cleaning campaign gave the messages of 'Going Green', 'Importance of planting trees', and "Learning to say NO to plastics".The added idea was also to create awareness among students regarding cleanliness and its benefits. As a part of this 'CLEANLINESS DRIVE', students had to clean their kindergarten wing and the helpers of the school were made observers. The tiny hands did the dusting of the rooms and also went to the play-ground for picking wrappers lying scattered. Paper bags were also distributed in the campus. The drive was led by the Principal Mr. S.N. Shukla who appreciated the initiative of the junior most students.

ANNUAL ADVENTURE TRIP!!!

Excitement reigned all over from the very beginning. Students reached the pickup spot on time and the bus was full of 83 chatterboxes listening to songs and dancing their way through. After a quick breakfast we reached Chamanda Devi Temple and paid our obeisance. A short drive later we stopped for a hearty lunch and finally reached Mcleodganj in the evening. Stretching our legs, allotting of rooms and discussions during dinner was all fun.

We had breakfast and left the hotel early for an adventurous trek. Most of us had a firsthand experience of mountain climbing and rappelling. The breathtaking views and awesome experiences left everyone gasping for breath. After lunch, we proceeded towards Bhagsu Nag Falls on foot. Inspite of it being far away, the enthusiasm in the students was obvious. On the way back we enjoyed a shopping spree in the local Tibetan market.

A visit to the cricket stadium at Dharamsala, Baijnath temple and a overview of the tea gardens occupied the first half of the day. Driving on, by the end of the day, we reached Palampur Camp area. The scenic beauty, panaromic views, the V shaped valleys were all fantastic. We felt we were in the laps of nature. Living in the natural surroundings the children learnt about the basic things like cleanliness and team spirit and had a new experience of living in tents. They all danced, played games like tug of war and musical chairs etc and had a jolly good time.

The next morning started on a healthy note with yoga, followed by trekking and swimming. They had breakfast when they reached back and then it was time to start our journey back to Patiala. The kids were not in a mood to leave the camp area as they wanted to spend another day there. But we had no choice as we had to reach back Patiala. The journey back to Patiala was also enjoyed a lot by the kids by singing and dancing and came back with wonderful memories.

MR Campaign organised for students

Delhi Public School Patiala organized the MR vaccination campaign for students from 3 to 15 years in collaboration with PHC Kauli under observation of Dr. Kiran Verma( SMO), Dr. Mini Singla ( M.O). Two teams of ANMs and Asha workers made the event fruitful. The campaign coincided with the PTM schedule of the school. In all, 450 children were vaccinated successfully. Principal Mr. S .N Shukla appreciated the campaign and thanked the medical team in having completed the campaign with cooperation of the parents.

Yellow Day in Kindergarten

"Shades of yellow stimulates our little ones with happiness, energy and optimism..With an objective to recapitulate and reinforce the effects of yellow colour,Kindergarten wing celebrated "Yellow day" on 18th May,2018.Children were not only beautifully dressed in their favourite yellow dresses but also brought yellow objects to make it a complete "Yellow Day". Tiffins were filled with bananas, custard, jelly,lemons,mangoes, pineapples etc.Focusing on the theme the educators planned art and craft activity related to the duckling headgear's for one and all.Beams of yellow shades carried the promise of a positive future flashing creative thoughts in the young minds.They spent the day with utmost enjoyment!!!

 

Magic Magic Magic !!

Students of classes Kindergarten to class VIII started their day on the 18th of May 2018 with a thrilling magic show that was organised in the school. The event was an initiative by the District Red-Cross Society. The session left the students awestruck and were left asking for more.

Its Story Time at DPS Patiala !!!!

A very interactive story-telling workshop was organised in the school premises on 17 May 2018. Ms. Shikha Sood from Scholastic was able to grab the attention of each and everyone with her excellence in story telling. This workshop was held for classes 1 to 8. It was an excellent view seeing all the students involved in the story by either continuing it or with their actions whenever and wherever required.It was enjoyed by all students from kindergarten to class VI.

She also apprised the students about what is required to make a story effective and how we should go about when we are writing or narrating a story. The larger than life character of stories excited the students all the more. The session was a pert of the 3 day book fair organised in the school campus.

 

Rajwinder Singh brings International Recognition

Mst. Rajwinder Singh Dhalla of Class X brought laurels to the school by bagging a gold medal in the "Indo-Thai Crossbow Tournament" that was held at the city of Pattaya, Thailand. Rajwinder was a part of the under 19 Indian Shooting Team that took part in the "Indo-Thai Sports Festival". Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla congratulated the young lad and appreciated his mega achievement in the morning assembly of the school.

 

The Excursion to F2 Raceway Ludhiana Water-park

The students and teachers of classes I-III had an enjoyable excursion to the F2 Raceway Ludhiana Water-park on the 12th of May 2018. The super-excited children enjoyed the fun rides with their friends, although the water rides were much more fun, adding the much needed relief from the sweltering summer heat. All the children also enjoyed the magic show and sure enough - the magician kept them all on tenterhooks.The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all the students.

 

Kindergartners speak Just-a-Minute on Mommies !!!

Students of Kindergarten participated actively in JUST-A-MINUTE activity held on 11th May 2018.The tiny tots recited rhymes and a few of them also shared their thoughts about their mothers. The confidence shown by the students was truly encouraging. They showed their love for their beloved mothers in their own individual and cute little ways. At the end of the activity, "Well Done" cards were distributed to the best performers as a token of appreciation.

 

Its Mother's Day at DPS Patiala !!!

The staff and students of Delhi Public School Patiala dedicated the entire day of 10th May to their beloved Mother's. The day began with a special assembly by class VII, which was filled with love and emotions. The beautiful song "pyari ma...mumma" touched the hearts of all present and so was the adorable choreography by the lovely damsels of class II. The card making by each student of the school was another preparation for the special day.

The highlight of the day however was the "Mother's Wall - Expressions of Love" wherein all the teachers, students led by the Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla wrote emotional messages to their precious mothers. The wall soon turned into an array of love-filled expressions dedicated to the living Gods - Mothers

Mothers have a special day

Mother's Day was celebrated at Delhi Public School Patiala with a lot of enthusiasm and zest.. The Mothers of students of the kindergarten section were invited to the school to be a part of the colorful celebration. The happy and excited mothers took part in the various competitions, namely Paper-bag making, Mock-tail making, birthday card making and dance competition. All events were team events comprising of the mother and child. The best performers were given away prizes by the Academic Coordinator Ms.Shveta Goyal and Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla. The event concluded with a energetic dance party for the young mothers.

Dental Check-up camp held

A dental check-up camp was organized for the students of DPS Patiala by the Department of Public Health Dentistry of Luxmi Bai Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Patiala. The two day camp began on the 2nd of May and successfully culminated on the 3rd of May 2018, with all the students from KG-1 to class X being examined with proper consultation and guidance being provided on the oral hygiene.

The Chess Champ does it again

Mst. Saksham Goyal of class VII bagged the first place in the Chess Championship organised by the Patiala District Chess Association on the 28th of April 2018. He won the trophy in the under 15 boys category by scoring 2.5 points out of the possible 3. Saksham was appreciated in the school assembly by the school Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla.

Labour day celebration in Kindergarten

DPS Patiala believes that gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.The students of DPS Patiala expressed their gratitude towards the school support staff by celebrating Labor day in the school premises. This was an occasion to honour the hard-work and dedication that the support staff showed towards the school and the students.The school Principal Mr.S.N.,Shukla addressed the little ones,members of school council and the support staff and appreciated the undying spirit with which that without them an efficient execution of work is impossible. They are our pillars of strength. We are grateful to them for their undying dedication, positivity and strength. Colourful bouquets made by the little ones by the help of their HRT's were distributed among them as a token of love and thanks!

Kindergarten Rhyme Recitation!

Students of Kindergarten enjoyed the beauty of expression and rhythm. The little ones exihibited their talent and confidence in Rhyme Recitation event.The children chose from a variety of topics for the recitation like "say no to junk food", "Mother", "Nature","My School","My Body Parts" . Children were applauded and appreciated for their performance with "Well Done" Cards !

Investiture Ceremony 2018

The investiture ceremony of Delhi Public School Patiala for the academic session 2018-19 was held in the school premises on 27 April 2018. The ceremony was conducted with a high degree of enthusiasm and sincerity.
The ceremony had esteemed Chief Guest Mr. Manjeet Singh Brar, SP (STF), who encouraged the students with his kind words and gave them a lot of tips to stay healthy and fit. The ceremony was also graced by the presence of Mr. Gurjaap Singh (State awardee), Inspector Traffic Police and Mr. Kaka Ram, Social worker with Red Cross. Mr. Gurjaap Singh shared traffic etiquettes and rules with the students in a very interesting way. The students and teachers took a pledge to follow traffic rules. Mr. Kaka Ram shared his views and experience with the students and gave tips about first aid.
The Principal Mr. S. N. Shukla and the chief guest Mr. Manjeet Singh Brar conferred the badges and sash to the elected students.
DPS is moving ahead with a vision of inducing a sense of responsibility and leadership qualities in its students. The ceremony took off by giving badges to house captains, deputy captains, followed by other badges like – discipline, transport, cultural etc. The most awaited positions of head boy and head girl were the last to come.
This ceremony also included awarding of “Scholar Badges” for academic excellence. DPS Patiala awarded the scholar badges for the very first time.
The entire council was encouraged with a loud applause from the audience.
The ceremony was blended with cultural events. The girls and boys in dazzling and smart attires showcased their dancing and singing skills.
The Principal and Chief Guests’ addressed the students. They appreciated them for their efforts and guided them to take up responsibilities and emerge to be better individuals. The chief guest participated in planting a sapling in the school premises. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

 

Kindergarteners visit the "Environment Park

Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago."

Keeping this in mind the environmental heroes of Kindergarten wing of DPS Patiala were taken for a nature walk by their teachers to the "Environment Park". To make the visit worth its objective,theTiny tots planted saplings and watered them with the help of school gardeners and their teachers. A short rally was also held,where students carried placards and slogans such as "Grow more trees" ,"We can't live without trees" , "Save trees,they will save you" to spread the message for environment conservation. The students enjoyed walking along the shady path, they also promised to never harm plants,and to plant more and more trees to make mother earth greener and cleaner.

English Story-Telling Contest held

Students of Classes 4-5 had fun as they listened to stories from their classmates. Most students narrated moral based stories and garnered greater attention from their audience because of the creative props they used. The event was undoubtedly a Saturday treat for the students.

 

The Nature Walk was on "Earth Day"

Students of class I-III went for a nature walk with their teachers to the "Environment Park". The visit was to make the students feel closer to nature while they interacted with their teachers on the importance of taking care of the beautiful nature God had given. The students also enjoyed walking along the shady path with handmade posters, proudly adorning Earth Day badges. The students contributed to the greenery of the park by planting green saplings they had taken along from the school.

DPS students achieve positions in the "Earth Day Carnival

8 students of Delhi Public School Patiala participated in the Earth Day Carnival organised by the "Paryavaran Welfare Society", Thapar University, Patiala.
Ms. Rishima of Class 7 was placed first in the poster making competition while Saksham Goyal of the same class brought in laurels by winning the first place in the Poem Recitation event. Mst Ishaan Sharma was declared third in the Group Discussion event.All achievers bagged a medal and certificate each. The students were appreciated in the school assembly too.

DPS Quiz Team Shines at TIET, Patiala

The DPS Quiz Team were victorious and finished first in the Astronomy Quiz on the occasion of the "World Astronomy Day" celebrations held at Thapar University. The team comprising of Manik Bansal, Sobindeep Mann, Charu Garg, Khushi and Ishita sailed through the 2 preliminary rounds and finished first in the final round.Sakshi Kushwaha of DPS finished second in the Poster-making competition and added to the laurels of the school.

Special Assembly on Earth Day

 

The Earth Day was celebrated at Delhi Public School Patiala on the 21st of April 2018.
The Special Assembly for the occasion was presented by class VIII Socrates. The students depicted the state of Mother Earth through an apt enactment showing the Earth of the yesteryears, the Earth now and the time that we are heading to ..2040. Manjot Kaur rendered a thought-provoking poem dedicated to our home in this galaxy ..Mother Earth.
A well-staged choreography on the number "na kaato mujhe...." was appreciated by one and all. Students of the class also distributed Earth Day badges. Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla in his address to the students cautioned the young students to orient themselves towards all eco-friendly initiatives to ensure a greener, cleaner and livable planet for themselves.
 

Footprints on the Sands of Time - The Heritage Contest

With the World Heritage Day being observed, students of Classes VI-VIII participated in the inter-house board decoration competition on the theme of World Heritage Day. It was wonderful to see the 4 boards populated with the hand-made artifacts, monuments and other cultural depictions that represented the rich heritage of the region/country or state chosen by the houses. The participants also interacted with the judges and explained the fine nuances of their boards.

Kindergarten -Red Day Celebration!

 

"The best colour in the world is the one that looks good on you." Kindergartners of DPS Patiala celebrated Red day on 20th April 2018. All the little angels of KG-I & KG-II came dressed in the vibrant hues of red. The classes were decked up to splash the color red on all sides. The children were happy to spend the day in their bright classrooms and also adorned the "Strawberry Badges" that were lovingly made by their teachers. The Kindergarten Red day was a wonderful learning activity which helped the kids to sort and classify objects based on colours thereby reinforcing their cognitive skills

The little Kindergartners donned the Chef's Caps as they dished up lip-smacking corn salad with the help of their teachers. It was the first endeavour of the students from the Kinder-Kitchen !! Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla enjoyed the salad with the students and interacted with the chefs too !!

Activities on "World Health Day"

The World Health Day was observed at Delhi Public School with the conduct of related activities. The day started with the special assembly by class X on the theme "World Health Day". Ample information on the significance of the day was shared which was followed by a quiz. The special guest invited for the occasion was Dr.Rachna Kaura, the Dietitian with Amar Hospital, Patiala. She addressed the students and gave them tips regarding the dietary habits that were to be inculcated to lead a healthy life.

The in-house doctor, Dr.Rishma Kohli in coordination with the mother teachers of classes I-III conducted interactive sessions on GOOD/BAD TOUCH. The students were apprised of the nature of touch that they were to be cautious of. A related animated movie was also shown to the students. Students of these classes also brought in Healthy Tiffins and were appreciated for the same in the interactive session by the teachers
on "Healthy Food".

 

World Book Day Celebrated

The students of class IX & X participated in the World Book Day celebration. An inter-house presentation contest was held on the 7th of April with the topic "Our Favorite Author" from the world of literature. The contesting teams presented well-planned and well researched presentations on the popular authors/writers of English. The objective of the event was to promote relevant research work by the students and as an educative initiative to promote interest in book reading.

Keeping in view the upcoming National Dance Day on the 29th of April, students of classes IV & V enthusiastically participated in the Solo Dance Contest. It was a feast to watch the students perform on the popular numbers and the audience enjoyed every moment the colorful performances.

Just-a-minute on "Why is health our wealth ?"

Students of classes VII-VIII took part in the JAM Activity on the topic "Why is health our wealth?" . The initiative was to inculcate the skill of Public Speaking and also to encourage healthy living.

 

Kindergartner's give a colorful start to session 2018-19

Super Excitement was evident in all the classes and corridors of the Kindergarten Section on the first day of session 2018-19.The tiny tots were brimming with enthusiasm as they entered the premises of the Kindergarten Section as their mother teachers gave them a warm welcome. The entire day was packed with fun activities.The first time school-goer's the Kindergarten-I students loved the star name-tags they received and also had a busy time colouring their picture worksheets. A peppy selfie-zone was created to capture the precious memories of the first day.The entire day was spent with amazing energy levels !

Delhi Public School commences its 6th Academic Session

Delhi Public School Patiala started its 6th Academic Session today, the 4th of April 2018. As is the tradition every year, the “Hawan” ceremony was held on the 3rd of April 2018, in the premises seeking the blessings of the Almighty.

On 4th of April, 2018, all students were given a warm and a loving welcome by teachers and Principal Mr. S.N.Shukla. The senior students were a big help who guided the new students and the junior students in locating their classes and helped them settle them down.

The welcome assembly of the day was presented by the teachers and it comprised of the welcome note followed by the news headlines and a thought-provoking thought too! Students were given an overview of the school facilities, school rules, and campus mannerisms. All the coaches for the various sports disciplines introduced themselves too.

 

Kindergarteners Celebrate "Baisakhi"

Baisakhi was celebrated with zest in the Kindergarten Wing of Delhi Public School Patiala. Dressed in traditional folk attires, students and teachers danced to the tunes of a medley of Punjabi folk songs. The entire wing was decorated with cutouts of farmers to make the students recognize the farming community. The beautiful multi-colored "Phulkaris" adored the walls and doors of the section adding to the festive ambiance. Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla addressed the students and apprised the children of their rich culture and heritage.

Baisakhi Celebration

The Punjabi New Year "Baisakhi" was celebrated with much festivity and fervor at Delhi Public School Patiala. The day's celebration began with the special assembly dedicated to the festival by the students of Class IX (Einstein). The students shared the traditional and historical significance that this festival holds. A beautiful poem was rendered by Mst.Hassveen. Students of class VI Ramanujan presented a energetic "Bhangra" depicting the "Basisakhi Fair".
The students dressed in the traditional best, were more than happy as they greeted the Pro Vice Chairman of the School Mr.Ramesh Talwar and the Principal Mr.S.N.Shukla. The students shared the historical and traditional significance of the festivities related to this festival, which also marks the advent of the New Year. Students tapped their feet to the beats of the “Dhol” and also sang the “Bolis”. The entire school wore a festive look. Senior students also enjoyed a visit to the nearby wheat fields and sang a few traditional numbers to add to the festive spirit. Principal Mr. S.N.Shukla wished the students and their families on the occasion.
