GRADUATION CEREMONY HELD AT DPS PATIALA

Delhi Public School Patiala acknowledged its Pre- primary students by organising a Graduation Ceremony at North Zone Cultural Centre, Bhasha Bhavan, Patiala on 26 March 2022.The tiny tots now step forward from Pre-Primary to class 1. It is their first step towards formal education. Little toddlers were very excited to receive their degrees clad in their black gowns and smart caps. The parents of the students were present to witness the ceremony when their little darlings wore the graduation gowns and caps, and held their scrolls firmly in their hands.The function was presided over by Dr. Vandana Sharma who is a Professor of Eminence, Department of Psychology in Akal University, Talwandi Saboo. The programme started on an auspicious note by the traditional lightning of lamp by the Chief Guest Dr. Vandana Sharma, Principal Mr. Santosh Shukla and Academic Coordinator Ms. Shveta Goyal.The kindergarten students exhibited their talent by presenting beautiful dances representing the theme of Unity in Diversity. The dances related to the four different directions of India namely: North, South, East and West. Students of class 2 anchored the entire event in a very lively, enjoyable and informative way. The Chief Guest congratulated the students and their parents on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the school. The Principal also addressed the parents and updated them about the school activities and thanked the parents for bestowing their trust on the school.
The exemplary performance and confidence shown by the students is worth mentioning and highly commendable.

DPS Patiala organized a farewell ADIEU 2022

Students of class XI of DPS Patiala organized a farewell ADIEU 2022 on March 12 in the school campus with much fun and frolic. The event was true to its name ADIEU… TOGEATHER TODAY AND ALWAYS as it was organized to cherish the joys of being together and also to make wonderful memories for the lifetime. The day started with the traditional welcoming of their seniors by the class XI batch followed with the lighting of the lamp ceremony by Principal Sir Mr. Santosh Shukla escorted by the class teachers and accompanied by the students of both the batches. A cultural bonanza was presented on the occasion which includes melodious musical performances and energetic dance performances. All the students of the ongoing batch were dazzling in their trendy and graceful attires and were seen enjoying and celebrating the culminating moments of their school life. There was a fashion walk organized for them, students went nostalgic while sharing their memories of the school life. A sapling was also planted by the students of class XII with Principal Sir to mark the occasion. The coveted title of Mr. DPS PATIALA was begged by Meet Kamal Singh Dhillon and Ms. DPS PATIALA was given to Gursimran Kaur. Mr. and Ms. PERSONALITY were Gotam Arora & Navkiran Kaur. Mr. and Ms. Talented were Purnedra Singh and Anushka Nehra respectively. The event concluded with the cake cutting followed by everyone enjoying grooving to their favorite numbers . Principal Mr. Santosh Shukla gave his best wishes to the batch of class XII and inspired them to become responsible citizens of the nation and to shine brighter in their chosen fields.

The Colours of my Nation

A drawing activity was organised for the students of Class VI based on the theme "The Colours of my Nation" in sync with the Republic Day celebrations of the school.

Kites & Colours of Spring: Vasant Panchami

The auspicious day of Vasant Panchami was celebrated by the children of kindergarten with great enthusiasm along with their teachers on the online mode. The children offered floral prayers and understood the significance of the spring festival. All were in a festive mood and were very excited throughout the session. As part of the activity for the day, the association of the festival with the yellow colour, the blooming of mustard flowers and the arrival of spring were also elaborated. Students were dressed in yellow attire and prepared yellow-coloured food with the help of their parents at home . The craft activity of the day helped the students learn to make colourful kites.

Class II - Fancy Dress – “I come from the state ________of India”

Children were dressed up in the attire or traditional wear from any state of India. Each child also shared a few important facts about the state. Students were also asked to understand the location of the state on the map of the country. The activity was well received and students participated in the activity with zeal and enthusiasm. Parents appreciated the activity and supported the students in the preparation of the content and the costumes.

Class I-III Lohri Virtual Celebrations

Class I-III also enjoyed a festive interaction with their teachers in the morning virtual assembly dedicated to the festival. Several students presented folk dances on the popular Punjabi folk songs. Children shared their plans for the evening and also drew beautiful pictures depicting the festivities related to Lohri.

Winter Magic: Lohri & Makar Sankranti Celebration

Lohri - the festival that ushers in the joyous spring and bids adieu to the hard winter was celebrated virtually by Kindergarten kids with exuberance and fanfare on 13th January 2021.On the occasion, both children and teachers enjoyed the folk songs with dance. Children dressed in their best colourful attires were seen relishing the Lohri snacks - peanuts, popcorn and other delicacies. The teachers apprised the little ones on the traditions of the farmer’s festival and also told them about - kite-flying, Giddha/Bhangra, colourful ‘rangoli’ making – activities that marked the celebrations of ‘Makar Sankranti’.

A beautiful assembly on Christmas!

A Christmas special assembly was conducted on the 24th of December 2021, the last day before the Winter Break by the students of Class 3 Innovators. Going with the theme of the assembly, children were dressed up in red and white outfits. The assembly started with prayers for the peace and happiness of the world. This was followed by a lively dance performance by the excited children on the carols - "Mercy is falling" and "Cast your burden', transporting all present into the land of joy and happiness. The next act was the Christmas Nativity depicting the birth of Lord Jesus. Some beautiful Christmas facts were also shared like "Why Christmas is specifically celebrated on 25 December?", "What are the significances of Christmas symbols?". The cheerful entry of Santa made the assembly memorable- especially for the little ones. Assembly ended with the singing of Carols and wishing everyone a "Merry Christmas"!

Remembering the Supreme Sacrifices of 4 Sahibzaade

The students of Class IV Chandergupta presented a special assembly saluting the sacrifices of the 4 young sahibzaade. Students shared the painful sequence of the heroic deeds with a reminiscence of the bygone days. They sang praises of the unparalleled valour and supreme sacrifices made by the revered sons - the "Char Sahibzaades" of Sri Guru Gobind Singh and Mata Gujri who sacrificed their lives for the sake of humanity. Students rendered a soulful Shabad and they also recited poems related to the Sahibzaadas with great devotion and fervour.
A "Gatka" performance was presented by class 2 students on the occasion. .

The Annual Winter Trip 2021

15-16^th December: 186 students of Delhi Public School Patiala from class VI-X were taken on a 4 nights-3 days visit to Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. The students accompanied by the escort teachers left Patiala around 6:15 pm in 4 buses for an overnight journey to Jodhpur. On arrival in Jodhpur, students were allocated rooms at Hotel Garh Gobind before being served an elaborate breakfast buffet Post breakfast, students got ready for a visit to the Mehrangarh Fort, where they had time to explore the rich Rajasthani royal abode of Queen Jodhabai. The guide escorted the students and teachers around the fort and shared the details.

17th December: Post breakfast in the hotel, all the 4 buses left for the visit to Umaid Bhawan which could not be covered on the 16^th due to time constraints. 2 guides helped the student group through the grandeur of the Umaid Bhawan. After the memorable visit to Umaid Bhawan, the 4 buses left Jodhpur for a 6-hour journey to Jaisalmer. A traditional welcome was given to the students on arrival at the camping resort– Desert Drop. The students were immediately taken in batches to enjoy a thrilling Jeep Safari and an equally exciting Camel Ride in the desert sands. children were super excited and truly enjoyed the activities and longed for more. Lunch was also arranged at Desert Drop, in parallel. Post sunset, students enjoyed snacks with hot tea and were treated to the traditional dance performances of Rajasthan, followed by a dance party.

18^th December After an early breakfast, the students were taken to the popular tourist destination, the haunted village Kuldhara. The historical facts of the location were shared with the students. The students also got the time to explore the ruins of the haunted village, which is currently under the Archaeological Department. After the visit to the Kuldhara Village, students were taken in batches for a boat ride in the Garhisagar Lake. The students enjoyed the grandeur of the majestic Fort of Jaisalmer, the last destination before their return journey to Patiala.

Winter Carnival held at DPS Patiala

The Annual Winter Carnival was organised by Delhi Public School on 12 December 2021in its school premises at Reeth Kheri, Sirhind Road, Patiala. The theme for this year was Virasat-E-Punjab. The release of colourful balloons by the Chief Guest Mrs. Amar Noorie Ji (Famous Punjabi Singer & Actress) andMrs. Sandeep Kaur Sidhu, the Mrs. Punjaban Worldwide India 2021 and a International gidha performer, to name a few of her achievements, marked the inauguration of the carnival. Mrs. Nirmal Rishi, a renowned Punjabi actress graced the occasion with her presence as a guest of honour.The school grounds pulsated with scintillating music and a lively crowd. The entire decor was related to the theme of the year showcasing the rich culture of Punjab. Several competitions were organised like a traditional fashion walk for toddlers under the title ‘Tor Punjab Di’ and a turban tying competition which was judged by well-known experts in this field.The carnival had something in store for everyone be it children or adults. It was a day full of fun activities. There were in all 90 stalls which were beautifully decorated. The major attractions were shopping stalls, fun rides, fun games, multi-cuisine stalls, ethnic Punjabi cuisine - The Punjabi Chullah and Tatto plus mehndi point.The carnival provided parents as well as children an opportunity to have a lot of fun. Activities like tambola, lucky draw and exciting prizes ensured an unforgettable time with near and dear ones. The zest and zeal exhibited by an enthusiastic crowd of visitors and participants made the Winter Carnival 2021 a memorable one.

Inter-Class Street Play Competition held
Students of Class IV & V had a first-hand experience of participating in a street play as they competed in the inter-class street play contest held before the Diwali Break.
The objective of the event was to promote teamwork along with confidence building amongst the students. Each child was given the opportunity to perform on stage along with his peer group. The judges of the event appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers for the effective presentations.

Kindergartners visit Tohkha Sahib Gurudwara

The Kindergarten students visited Tohkha Sahib Gurudwara near by village Fagan Majra on 15th November as a part of the school's Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrations. The students offered their prayers.The authorities of the Gurudwara appreciated the time spent by the teachers and the students in the historical shrine. The children were delighted as they received the Prasad. Children could relate to the ongoing lesson in their curriculum -"Places of worship and Respect".Children were apprised about the significance of the upcoming Gurupurab.

GURPURAB CELEBRATIONS

DPS Patiala organised a fun filled Bal Mela on November 12 to celebrate children's day.Teachers put up food stalls for the children and also presented an entertaining cultural bonanza for them. It was a day filled with joy, gaiety and celebration for all the children in the true spirit of a fete. Principal Mr Santosh Shukla wished all the children good health and happiness and also inspired them to become good humans and responsible citizens of the society.

The little chefs of grade K.G.I & K.G.II enriched their culinary creativity by preparing ‘Monaco Biscuit Toppings’ in their ‘Cooking Without Fire’ activity on 22nd October 2021 under the guidance of their teachers. Children were give the liberty to choose toppings of their own choice. After the completion of the activity, the children relished eating the yummy canapés with their friends. Cookies loaded with taste, health and love !

Fruits 'n' Veggies Market Day

Fruits 'n' Veggies Market Day was observed on the 29th October in DPS Patiala Kindergarten Wing. A pseudo market was set-up by the teachers to build the ambience of a real one with the objective to teach the students in a fun-filled way. The students were amazed looking at their teachers dressed up as vendors and farmers. Students were invited to buy vegetables and the students talked about different fruits and vegetables. Students were also inspired to show their respect and gratitude for farming community and the vendors, who toiled hard to make our lives comfortable. An enactment was also presented on the theme "Go Local !"

The activity was worthwhile with children learning their concepts and imbibed values as well .

DIWALI - CELEBRATIONS

Inter House Cricket Matches - Action and Rivalry on campus !

The long awaited Inter-House Cricket Matches were held on 30th October in the sprawling grounds of DPS Patiala. The enthusiasm and team spirit were all-time high, with student spectators cheering their house players.
In the junior level matches(class 4-5), the finals was between Ravi House and Chenab House, with Ravi House winning with a nail biting finish.
Chenab House players were the winners in the senior group (with players from classes 9&10) beating Beas House.

HALLOWEEN 2021

Dushhera Celebrated

The DPS family celebrated Dusherra with a special assembly on the 14th of October. The students from kindergarten to Class XII participated in the festive assembly. As this festival marks the victory of good over evil, Class VII Kalam presented an impressive mime depicting the modern-day scenario of the evils that prevailed in our living world, which needed immediate attention and complete eradication. The students took a pledge to be the ambassadors of positive change and make the world a better place to live in. Class III presented a mythological scene from "Ramayan" backed with a poetic recital.

Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla expressed his happiness on observing the festive enthusiasm amongst the students. He conveyed his wishes to the children and asked the students to enjoy the festivities with the families.

The assembly concluded with the burning of the effigy of Ravana - with a promise by each individual present to remove all negativity from self.

Blue Colour Day Celebrations at DPS Patiala

Kindergartners of DPS Patiala celebrated Blue Day on 1st October 2021. BLUE is a cool and calming colour that shows creativity and intelligence.

The dress code of the day was blue. All the children dressed up in different shades and hues of blue. To make the activity more inclusive, children brought different objects like toys, decorative items, and artworks based on the theme. Purposefully planned in-class activities enabled the little ones not only to learn innovative games but also enhanced their logical and reasoning minds. Children improved their vocabulary by learning new words through meticulously organized art/craft and table-mat making activities. Blue Day was an amazing learning experience that had a long-lasting effect on every student.

Children enjoyed the activities with immense enthusiasm and zeal.

9th September 2021 - "We welcome our Kindergartners on Campus"

Super Excitement was evident in all the classes and corridors of the Kindergarten Section on the first on-campus day of session 2020-21. The tiny tots brimmed with enthusiasm as they entered the premises of the Kindergarten zone as their mother teachers gave them a warm welcome. The entire day was packed with fun-filled activities. The first time school-goer's the Kindergarten-II students loved the star name-tags they received and also had a busy time colouring their picture worksheets. A peppy selfie-zone was created to capture the precious memories of the first school campus day. The entire day was spent with amazing energy levels! Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla spent time interacting with the juniormost group of students. The senior students proved to be a big help guiding their juniors in locating their classes and helped them settle them down. Students were given an exciting overview of the school facilities, school rules, and campus mannerisms.

Teachers' Day Celebrations

Teachers' Day 2021 was celebrated with much pomp and fervour on the campus of Delhi Public School Patiala. The atmosphere was festive with students excited to make the occasion super special for their teachers. The special assembly was presented by the senior students with poems and speeches dedicated to the teaching fraternity of DPS Patiala.

This was followed by a fun get-together of the student hosts and the teachers, with activities dotting the entire schedule.

Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla thanked the students for their wonderful presentations. He also motivated the teachers to continue their dedicated and innovative efforts towards the betterment of students.

The entire staff of DPS Patiala later had a lavish lunch followed by a dance party at the magnificent Patiala Club.

Janamashtami 2021

Delhi Public School Patiala celebrated the colourful and vibrant festival of "Janamashtami" on the campus with a special cultural assembly. The stage was set in the theme of the assembly with vibrant colours dominating the ambience. The earthen pots and colourful peacock feathers were a feast to the eyes. The assembly started off with the little "Krishnas" and "Radhas" of Class II presenting a lovely choreography depicting the childhood of Lord Krishna, while the students of Class VIII set the stage alive with a mythological play on life of Lord Krishna. This was followed by the Bhajan recitals, bringing to life the mystical life of Shri Krishna.

Principal Mr Santosh Shukla conveyed his festive wishes to the students and teachers. All teachers also gently rocked the cradle with the idol of infant Krishna on the stage as a part of the tradition.

Smiles and Giggles mark Rakshabandhan 2021

On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, DPS Kindergarten organized several activities on the virtual platform to make students understand the true essence of this festival and the sacred relation of siblings. The tiny tots of KG I Buds & Blooms dressed in their colourful, traditional attires cheerfully participated in tying rakhi on the wrists of their siblings. Students also learnt and tried their hand at thali decoration, rakhi making and colouring activities. The vibrant, colourful attires and innocent smiles brightened the ambience of the virtual session On the other hand “Vriksha Bandhan” A Tree Plantation Campaign was carried out by the students of KG-II. Just as in Raksha Bandhan where brothers take the responsibility to protect their sisters; In the same way, the KG-II pledged to take care of a plant by tying a "Rakhi". Through this simple yet precious gesture, the little one bonded themselves with the plants for life !

Remembering the Freedom Fighters of India

Class II celebrated 75 years of free India. Behind the story of Independence, lies a vast history of sacrifices and struggles of our brave freedom fighters who fought for the country’s Independence until their last breath. Children celebrated this Independence Day remembering those sacrifices that our freedom fighters did for us. The students of class II spoke about our leaders like Rani Laxmi Bai,Lala Lajpat Rai, Bhagat Singh,Gandhi Ji, just to name a few, with pride. Students were dressed up like the leaders they had chosen. The props and banners used by the students were amazing. The event was great and memorable experience for all the participants.

Kindergartners and the Patriotic Fervour !

To mark the 75th Independence Day of India, Delhi Public School, Patiala held a week-long celebration. The whole Kindergarten department of the school organised a plethora of interactive events and activities of art/craft. All through the week, teachers shared videos of patriotic songs, dances for the students and also narrated the stories related to the freedom struggle. In turn, the little patriots expressed their patriotic ideals by performing dances on or singing songs praising their beloved India. Parents gave fantastic inputs to make this event a grand and colourful one.

11th to 13th August 2021 - " The leader I admire "

In the line-up of activities being enjoyed by the students as a part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations, an oratory activity - "The Leader I admire" was organised for the students of Class III. This virtual activity was an opportunity for the students to know the names and faces of the freedom fighters who sacrificed the precious years of their lives fighting for the freedom of our motherland. Students were asked to portray the personality of their choice by dressing up like them and also sharing a few lines about the personality. The judgment rubrics were content, portrayal/dress up and confidence. Rani Laxmi Bai, Gandhi ji , Sarojini Naidu, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, APJ Kalam, Mother Teresa were the popular portrayals. The confidence of the students was praiseworthy. The efforts of the parents were visible as the children were aptly dressed for the event, many also sporting impressive backgrounds.

Independence Day Celebrations

Teej Celebrations - Colourful and Vibrant!

"Teej" - the festival of rain and swings was celebrated by the Kindergartners on the 11th August 2021 on the virtual platform. "Teej" celebrates the bounty of nature, arrival of rains and greenery and is marked by social gatherings, colourful rituals and customs. Our enthusiastic students enjoyed the fervour of the festival by wearing bright traditional "Punjabi" attires. Children shared their pictures on swings and also enjoyed the delicacies like "kheer" and "malpuas". The teachers created the ambience of the season with clouds, raindrops, "phulkaaris" and swings to give a complete feel of the occasion The tiny tots danced on famous Punjabi numbers raising the spirit of the festival !

Class I - III - "The Road to Independence"

From struggle..... to freedom..... to progress..... is the road to independence.

A captivating presentation depicting the arduous journey of our country towards a free nation was shown to the students of Classes I-III. Students are told about the supreme struggles and sacrifices of our great leaders and freedom fighters. Being ravaged by the invasion of the Mughals, Portuguese and Britishers, India lost its strength for a long time. Many great people stood up and fought for the rights of Indians like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, just to name a few. Students were shown video clippings also. They were told about some amazing facts about India like as they all were aware of National Symbols.However they were unaware about the National Sweet being "Jalebi" and Pumpkin is the National vegetable of India. Also, India has more post offices than any other country in the world. Students were very excited to know and learn more about their country. The activity concluded with a small quiz about the facts and information shared with the students.

Tiny Tots learn friendship, the special bond this Friendship Day

“A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words. Friendship Day is just an opportunity to let our friends know how important they are to us in the fabric of life. The entire Kindergarten section celebrated Friends and Friendship on the 1st of August with varied Friendship Day Art Activities across the grades. Teachers shared their thoughts on creating connections with classmates and how over time these connections become bonds for life. The value discussed for the day was sharing. The day concluded with students hugging their friends virtually and showing a friendship day craft they had made for a chosen classmate.
